A little ink goes a long way.

Orifude is a folding and ink puzzle for your terminal. Fold a small sheet, brush ink through its layers, and open it to find the pattern.

Version 1.1.1 is ready to unfold. Read the notes

The first paper in Orifude. Fold once, brush once, then open it.

Take your time. Undo is always there.

There’s more to a little sheet of paper.

A fold brings distant places together. A single brush stroke reaches every layer. The surprise comes when you open it.

  1. A target with two adjacent ink marks in its second row, beside a blank four-by-four paper.TargetYour paper

    Look for the pattern.

Two marks sit side by side. Your paper starts flat and dry.

  2. The left half folds across the center crease onto the right half, leaving two stacked columns.

    Bring the edges together.

Fold the left half to the right. It settles on top of the other half.

  3. A single brush mark reaches the top layer and the bottom layer underneath it.TopBottom

    Let one dot travel.

Touch the brush to the stack. Ink passes through both layers.

  4. The opened four-by-four paper has ink in columns two and three of the second row, matching the target.

    Open something lovely.

Unfold the paper. One dot becomes two, exactly where they belong.

This is the real first lesson. The opened ink must match the target exactly.

All you need is a little curiosity.

Every paper is drawn in your terminal. Use the keyboard to choose a crease, place the brush, and look through the stack before you open it.

The lesson in your terminal, one fold and one dot in. The stack shows both inked layers and the row each began on. Press Enter to open the paper.

Leave the clock outside.

There is no timer or streak to protect. Undo a mark, start again, or come back another day.

Keep what you solve.

Every finished paper becomes a keepsake you can replay one step at a time.

Keep it close.

A guide to making packs
How to submit a pack
  1. Fork Orifude on GitHub and copy the example pack into community/your-pack-id/1.0.0/.

  3. Open a pack pull request from your fork to shrek. Include the command results, play notes, and source credits.
  4. Isolated CI runs the validator and solver. A maintainer reviews the puzzles, text, and license before publishing a versioned ZIP and checksum here.

You can also keep your creations to yourself. Every pack plays offline.
